Waxing

Bodyscaping services are offered by our experienced estheticians; from expertly shaped brows to silky smooth leg moves, oh and of course, de-furring the lady bits. We use two kinds of soft wax to yield these results; honey wax and banana wax. Here are a few tips from Her Beauty & Lash Lounge to make your waxing appointment go as smoothly as possible!

Pre Wax Tips:

  • Let it grow! To be able to achieve a fuzz free result, hair length needs to be between 1/4″ to 1/2″ long (three to five weeks of growth). This length is optimal for a clean wax.

  • Longer than optimal length hair can be more painful, so please trim prior to your appointment if needed.

  • Make sure your skin is free of creams prior to your waxing session to ensure a thorough hair removal.

  • If you’re really worried about the ouch factor, pop an over-the-counter pain reliever (like Tylenol or Advil) half an hour before your appointment. Don’t forget to breathe and relax. The less tense you are, the less painful it will be.

  • Please inform your esthetician if you are on any antibiotics, Accutane, Differin, or Retin A. These medications will thin the skin and can potentially cause burning or peeling. The results will be unap’peeling’!

Post Wax Tips:

  • To soothe any redness and skin irritation use aloe, or another organic plant-based cream, immediately after your wax.

  • After waiting 48 hours, continue with your exfoliation regime to prevent the risk of ingrown hairs. Exfoliating once or twice a week removes dead skin and frees trapped hairs. To do this you could use an exfoliating body wash, body scrub, loofah, or body gloves. Follow exfoliation with a natural moisturizing body lotion for the prevention of ingrown hairs.

  • Steer clear of the sun or any sweaty activities after your wax. Let it breathe and recover!
